Attend Online Class
Amideast Online is a student-centered learning platform using the latest educational technology for face-to-face, blended learning, and virtual classrooms. It will enable you to communicate directly with your teacher and collaborate with fellow classmates in order to practice your English, receive feedback on assignments, and access online study resources. Below are some guidelines to connect to your online class.
Technical Requirements for the Big Blue Button Online Meeting
Minimum requirements may vary depending on the device and browser being used. We recommend all users ensure they are meeting the minimum requirements for the Big Blue Button HTML5 prior to their first live session.
Recommended Browsers
- Desktop/Laptop: Chrome, Firefox or Microsoft Edge (latest versions)
- Mobile iOS (12.2+): Safari Mobile
- Mobile Android (6.0+): Chrome Mobile
- At this time the Internet Explorer and legacy EDGE browsers are not supported.
Recommended Settings
- Computer – As often as possible, connect to class using a laptop or desktop computer with (at least) 2G of memory and a 1Ghz processor (any computer bought in the last five years should be fine). As a last resort, mobile phones can also be used to connect to class.
- Bandwidth – To ensure the best possible connection, you must have at least 1 Mbits/second upstream and 1 Mbits/second downstream. 2 Mbits/second upstream and 2 Mbits/second downstream is required for screen sharing and video sharing. To check your bandwidth use, https://speedtest.net/.
- Headset – To be clearly heard, you may want to use a headset for online classes. A headset will ensure that others can hear your voice clearly and you don’t cause echo or background noise for others. Any model is fine, but it should have USB plug.
- Video – As often as possible, you should always be on video when not using the screen sharing function. You can use your computer’s built-in webcam or a webcam with a USB plug.
We recommend moderators or presenters connect through a wired network (not wireless), if possible. If connecting from a wireless network that is not reliable, you may experience periodic disconnects or gaps in your audio.
