    Access for Adults Program

The Access Program, which is funded by the U.S. Department of State, offers two years of English language instruction and additional workshops that introduce the youth to American culture, community service, and career enhancement resources.

The program’s curriculum strengthens English speaking, writing, listening, and reading skills, and extracurricular activities provide additional opportunities to improve English language proficiency as well as help build leadership skills and promote personal development. Activities include guest speakers, field trips for cultural activities (such as films, exhibitions, and concerts), and visits to a variety of organizations.

    Program Overview

Access for Adults is a 70-hour program focusing on developing participants’ English language conversational skills through discussion of U.S. culture, society, history, and current events, as well as other foundational English skills, targeting 315 participants ages 30-45 years old.  This program will support the goals of the Palestinian Affairs Unit (PAU) at the U.S. Embassy to equip participants with English language skills and an understanding of American culture and values with the expectation that this will lead to greater opportunities for mutual understanding and mutually beneficial partnership and cooperation. This program will develop participants’ oral, written, and digital communication skills to enable them to communicate more effectively and confidently in English. AMIDEAST aims to achieve this goal through actively engaging participants in intercultural group work and project-based learning on themed topics related to American culture, values, society, and current issues.
