    Young Adults 7A (CEFR C1)

    Description

    This 40-hour course will improve fluency through regular practice of speaking activities. Students will increase their vocabulary range through discussions, role-plays, pair work, presentations and debates and group work through an array of motivation topics of high interest to teens. Students will develop an understanding of oral communication, as well as basic structures using target language. Students will develop English language skills at a CEFR: C1 level through practice of the four skills - listening, speaking, reading, and writing - as well as through grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation exercises. Students will explore contemporary topics such as the mindfulness, social issues, special needs populations, defining, and overcoming, challenges, relationships, communities, people and personalities and fads in fashion and look. An interactive classroom environment will provide many opportunities to practice real-world communication.

    Course Objectives

    In this class, you will increase your understanding and use of language the simple grammar structures of simple present, past, continuous tenses, perfect tenses and future tenses. Critical thinking skills, listening comprehension exercises through podcasts, dialogues and lectures, vocabulary building skills and pronunciation   Students will learn presentation skills and be part of small group and individual presentations. Communicative activities and exercises are stressed through small group work, projects, presentations and guided discussions and debates.

    Student Assessment

    You will be evaluated in a variety of ways throughout the course and receive feedback from the teacher to help you continue to improve your English language skills. Student assessment is based on the following criteria, on a scale of 100%. The passing grade is 75%.

    Attendance Policy

    Students cannot miss more than 8 hours of class time in order to pass the course. Late arrivals are counted towards the 8-hour limit. Students who are absent for two consecutive classes will receive a phone call from the EL Director to check on reasons for absences.

    Class Rules

    • Arrive to class on time.
    • Be prepared to participate in class activities
    • Bring the class textbook and notebook to every class session.
    • Be sure your mobile phone is on silent and out of sight.
    • Do not bring food or drinks into class
    • Complete all home assignments before class. (This helps ensure that you progress more quickly!)
