    TOEIC Training of Trainers (TOT) Workshop

    Course Description

    This TOEIC TOT interactive workshop provides a comprehensive training to TOEIC instructors wanting to better their students test results. At the end of this workshop, TOEIC instructors will be able to impart a variety of receptive or productive strategies necessary for future test-takers to succeed on the exam.

    This workshop helps participants understand the complex components of the TOEIC exam. It breaks down test-taking strategies into comprehensible chucks that test-takers can easily apply on test day. Workshop participants will take a deep dive into how TOEIC presents various language skills and participate in various collaborative activities and exercises that can be immediately brought to the classroom. At the end of this 20-hour workshop, participants will be equipped with a healthy assortment of test taking strategies that will produce positive results for their test-takers.

    Learning Objectives

    • Familiarize TOEIC instructors with the receptive (i.e. listening & reading) or productive (i.e. speaking & writing) test format and scoring process
    • Aid in developing curriculum used for the TOEIC Prep courses
    • Incorporate practical strategies and activities to motivate learners and aid them in obtaining a maximum score
    • Discuss the fundamental teaching principles in relation to standardized tests and how to apply them to the classroom
    • Set learning objectives that meet the needs of the test-takers
    • Locate and utilize authentic learning and testing materials
    • Develop a network of peers and exchange teaching ideas and methods
    • Build confidence in conducting a TOEIC Prep class

    Student Assessment

    You will be evaluated in a variety of ways throughout the course and receive feedback from the teacher to help you continue to improve your English language skills. This course is not based on a quantitative value, but rather a Pass or Fail course.  Certificates will be given to those who pass.

    Audience Policy

    Students cannot miss more than 4 hours (20%) of class time in order to pass the course. Late arrivals are counted towards the 4-hour limit. Students who are absent from any class will receive a phone call from the EL Department to check on reasons for absences. 

    Class Rules:

    • Arrive to class on time
    • Be prepared to participate in class activities
    • Bring the class textbook and notebook to every class session
    • Be sure your mobile phone is on silent and out of sight
    • Do not bring food or drink to class
    • Complete all homework assignments before class
