Level 3 Course (CEFR A1)
Description
This 42-hour course is a smooth transition into an upper beginners level. The course covers a proven multi-skills syllabus focusing on accuracy and fluency. Each unit includes up-to-date content, additional grammar practice, and task-based listening activities. Students will develop conversational language that is made fun and productive through a variety of game-like activities. Students will explore topics such as sports, music, personality, free time activities and community life.
Course Objectives
Through an engaging and communicative approach, students will learn more complex language structures.
At the end of the course, students will be able to:
- Exchange personal information (form wh-questions)
- Talk about routines and habits (use of Simple Present vs. Present Continuous, and adverbs of frequency)
- Ask about and describe location of places (use of “there are” and “there is”)
- Talk about past events (Simple Past)

Student Assessment
You will be evaluated in a variety of ways throughout the course and receive feedback from the teacher to help you continue to improve your English language skills. Student assessment is based on the following criteria, on a scale of 100%. The passing grade is 75%.

Attendance Policy
Students cannot miss more than 8 hours (20%) of class time in order to pass the course. Late arrivals are counted towards the 8-hour limit. Students who are absent for two consecutive classes will receive a phone call from the EL Department to check on reasons for absences.
Class Rules
- Arrive to class on time.
- Be prepared to participate in class activities
- Bring the class textbook and notebook to every class session.
- Be sure your mobile phone is on silent.
- Do not bring food or drinks into class.
- Complete all homework assignments before class. (This helps ensure that you progress more quickly!)
