Since the second half of the 20th century, Morocco has developed into one of the globe's leading nations of immigration. Moroccans form one of the largest and most dispersed migrant communities in Europe and Morocco has increasingly become a site of immigration for sub-Saharan African immigrants and refugees. As a site of both emigration and progressively more settlement, migration and its effects are becoming ubiquitous to the Moroccan population at large. In addition to academically, epistemologically, and intellectually engaging with mobility studies themes, the course will utilize a multi-level and multi-disciplinary approach that considers core issues about the local and global cultural politics and human rights in the context of transnational mobility.
