    Learning Outcomes

    By the end of the course, students will be able to:

    • Increasing reading speed

    • Distinguishing fact from opinion

    • Identifying words with Greek and Latin origins

    • Annotating texts

    • Using prefixes (un, and in)

    • Identifying important details and sources of information

    • Identifying tone and mood

    • Using idioms related to Success

    • Descriptive objectives

    • Recognizing writer’s attitude and bias

    • Reading statistical data

    • Using vocabulary to describe trends

    • Using Passive modals : advice, possibility and ability

    • Using unreal conditional in the past

    • Using Intensifiers + comparative combinations

    • using cleft sentences with “What”

    • Using the future progressive

    • Writing thesis statement

    • writing about cause and effect

    • Using similes and metaphors

    • Using qualifying statistical data

    Student Assessment

    You will be evaluated in a variety of ways throughout the course and receive feedback from the teacher to help you continue to improve your English language skills. Student assessment is based on the following criteria, on a scale of 100%. The passing grade is 70%.

    AMIDEAST Policies

    • Course duration: 36 hours
    • Session duration 3 hours
    • No of sessions: 12 sessions
    • Participants are expected to join the online session on time.
    • Break time is 15 minutes.
    • Make-up quizzes are to be held only once and due to an emergency situation.
    • Attendance Policy: participants should attend 75% of training sessions
    • Passing grade is 70%
    • Participants need to provide AMIDEAST with a valid e-mail address. This will enable them to check their attendance & grades and do online evaluation of instruction on AMIDEAST Learning Management System during the course. They will also get their final grade by checking the LMS.
    • Participants are encouraged to cooperate with each other and show respect and courtesy towards the instructor & other participants
