    Beginner 1 Course

    Welcome Students!

    This is where you will find access to additional information about your course as well as supplementary course materials, assignments, and resources. You will also be able to obtain course grades and individual student evaluations, and fill out course surveys.

    Course Outline:

    Unit 1 "High Five!" - learn language to introduce yourself and others, and give personal information; read short texts to introduce people; practice saying hello and goodbye in different ways: using polite and informal language.

    Unit 2 "A World of Things" - learn language to talk about everyday objects and prices; listen for the price of things in a store; learn how to link sentences using and, read short ads about things on sale; describe a room and talk about the things in it.

    Unit 3 "International Relations" - learn language to talk about countries, nationalities, and families; read a text about a celebrity and her family; introduce family members and friends.

    AMIDEAST Policies:

    1. Students are expected to come to class on time.

    2. Mobile phones should be put on silent mode.

    3. No food or drink is allowed in AMIDEAST classrooms & labs.

    4. Break time is 10 minutes for two-hour classes, 15 minutes for three-hour classes.

    5. Make-up quizzes must be scheduled individually with the teachers.

    6. Passing grade is 70%.

    7. Individual course evaluations are done twice per session, once in the middle and once at the end. 

    8. Students are encouraged to cooperate with each other and show respect and courtesy towards the teacher & other participants.
