Whether you're making a call, taking a message, or dealing with a bad line, mastering these skills will make you more efficient and professional. "How can I help you?" This is a standard polite greeting when answering a professional call. "This is [Your Name] calling." Always introduce yourself clearly at the beginning of a call. "Can I have extension [Number]?" Use this when you know the direct internal number you wish to reach. "Please hold and I'll put you through." Inform the caller that they will be transferred after a brief wait. "I'm afraid he's out at the moment. Can I take a message?" Politely state unavailability and offer to assist further. "Could you repeat the number please?" A polite way to ask for information to be said again if you didn't catch it. "I'll make sure [Name] gets your message." Confirming that you will deliver the message reliably.
