Great news everyone! We just signed an agreement with a BBB provider to host our virtual classrooms. They'll handle all of the IT infrastructure which will include a load balancer and three BBB servers. This will triple out concurrent capacity from 250 users to 750. There will also be added space for the recordings which we will be able to download as .mp4 videos, a capability we do not currently have. There are other pluses to this agreement but suffice to say our BBB will be greatly enhanced as soon as next week!
Fabulous news, David!! The sky's the limit now! Well, the virtual world is the limit, but you know what I mean. Thanks for all you do.
We've signed the agreement with a BBB host provider who will set up what's called a Scalelite server cluster consisting of a front-end load balancer server connected to Moodle and three back-end BBB servers, each with a 250 concurrent user capacity. In addition to the functions or our current single server, there are other enhancement including a way for managers to download the BBB recordings as .mp4 videos. This will make it possible for us to select model teaching segments to share with everyone on RTSG. Another enhancement is a link that the moderator can send to invite guests directly to the session without having to enroll them in Moodle. This would be a nice feature to use for guest speakers and observers. There are more features coming soon, such as a way to upload videos and audio files to play on the shared screen the same way that you now upload PDF and image files.
